WoW Recap

Context

With 2024 coming to an end we had the idea of making a simple website that would create a small recap of the past year for WoW players.

wow recap front page

Goal

We want to provide a recap of the year that passed, the same way Spotify or other platforms does it, but this time for WoW.

Behind the first goal of making a funny website for the community, our goal was to generate traffic to funnel to our more elaborate and usefull website Wowchievement.

Tech stack

On the backend we rely on the Wowchievement API that fetch data from official Blizzard API. It’s developed in GO.

Frontend is done in Next Js. In order to quickly release the website before the end of the year we forked the frontend code of Spent On Wow.

We use Github action to make docker images stored on dockerhub. Then we deploy it on our kubernetes cluster.

Future

This first version for 2024 has been rushed, we didn’t have much time to developed it after the release of Spent On Wow and the end of the year celebration.

We have a lot of idea we didn’t have time to properly explore or put in place. We kept all of those on the side for next year.
